Change on Section 13 of Terms & Conditions

We made a few changes to Section 13 of our Terms & Conditions. This section regards to Certified Translation services provided by our member Cátia Cassiano. Cátia was recently informed that a translator does not need to see the original document to be able to certify its translation. However the translation must have a copy of the original printed in the reserve of the page with the translator stamp and signature.

This has minimal effect on the service provided, but it allows the translator to accept jobs interstate or overseas.

Welcome to 2018

Welcome to 2018. After a short break our team is ready to start the new year. Our team wishes you a very happy and successful new year.

There are a few changes to our Online Activities in 2018. From 2018 our Grammar Months will be held at the last month of each quarter. This enables us to spread this activities evenly throughout the year. We will continue with our regular online activities as usual and we invite you all to participate.

We have updated our Price list for 2018. You can view our full updated price list in our website.

A new Updated Words Glossary is now available

Updated Words has launched another interesting Glossary. It is our Anatomy Glossary.

The Glossary is still incomplete, but we decided to publish so it can be useful to the general public. We want our glossaries to be a useful tool both for colleagues and the general public.

This Glossary will be updated regularly once more terms become available. Feel free to consult it on Anatomy Glossary .

New Financial Year brings a few changes to Updated Words

The new Financial Year has just started bringing a few exciting changes to Updated Words. We did a small restructure and decided to do a few changes in our activities online and release 2 brand new Glossaries.

Over the years we've been promoting activities in our Facebook and Forum pages, bringing terms and asking readers to find their translation. We won't be changing that model but we will be doing it in a slightly different way. From this week we will start introducing the word on Tuesdays as usual, but we will start doing it in a multiple-choice exercise, where you will have to choose from 3 possible options.

We will also be introducing the Grammar Months. From now on, we will have 4 months in a year dedicated to Grammar issues both in English and Portuguese. These months will be spread out through the year and each one of them will have 2 weeks dedicated to English Grammar and the other 2 dedicated to Portuguese Grammar. The activities will be similar to the other activities. A multiple-choice exercise will be released on Tuesdays to be completed with the correct answers on Thursdays.

We have also updated our existing Glossaries and released 2 brand new Glossaries. These Glossaries are not complete, but they are meant to be updated  as more terms become available. Every weekly term released in our online activities will be released in a Glossary and published in our website once it reaches more than 20 terms. Our new glossaries are the Aviation and Tourism Glossary  and the Legal Vocabulary Glossary. More glossaries will be released throughout the year and the existing ones will be updated every three months.

Tradulínguas launches its Medical Translation Course - Clinical Essays

Tradulínguas launched its Medical Translation Course - Clinical Essays. The Course will give participants the opportunity to acquire vocabulary in this specific area.

Once again the curse will be conducted by Dra. Vanda Marujo.The course will start on 12th of June and will finish on the 7th of July. You can enrol until 8th of June.

Margarida Sousa leaves Updated Words

After one year of cooperation, we are very sad to announce our colleague Margarida Sousa's departure from the Updated Words Team.

A long time friend, Margarida became a member in 2016 and has been working with us, helping develop the Team's projects. However, due to personal reason our dear friend Margarida had to resign from the Team. She also sad to leave but she couldn't reconcile the work in the Team with other personal activities she's involved with.

We wish our dear colleague and friend the best of luck and you thank her for all the great work she developed with us.

Small Changes to Updated Words

The new financial year brought a few changes to Updated Words. For a long time we have made a few aesthetic changes to our page but our prices and rules were kept the same, it was time to update them and make them more in sync with the necessities of today. So on our last End of Financial Year Meeting a few changes were approved in order to update our Price List and Terms & Conditions.

We have an updated Price List. We updated our prices and included a few more services and options to our clients. Apart from a slight update to the price of our services you will find other options in the content production and editing category and also in the certified translation category. Please visit our Prices page to learn more about all these updates.

We’ve also updated our Terms& Conditions to incorporate the new changes made to pricing and also a few other small changes that needed to be made to reassure our clients of our quality and good practises. One of these changes was the inclusion of a Code of Conduct. Even though our team has always complied with a Code of Conduct that wasn’t included in our Terms & Conditions, and therefore our clients weren’t aware of that fact. There were also a few options added to the certified translation services category that also needed to be regulated. We’ve also added our working hours to our professional profile. Since not all members have the same working hours we have now provide that information on each member’s professional profile so our clients are aware of the member’s working times.

Tradulínguas launches its Translation in Economy Course - Financial Markets

Tradulínguas has just launched its brand new Translation in Economy Course - Financial Markets. This great course will be focus in all aspects of the financial markets and how the global economy and politics may affect it.

Updated Words has a brand new member

Since 2008 Updated Words have been a Team of 2 passionate translators who share their love of languages and writing. It has been a great experience for both members and they certainly love the work and the relationship they have developed with clients and the visitors of their social media pages.

In the 2015 the team considered expanding the Team, and even though they were not actively searching for new members, they were aware of that idea should the opportunity present itself. That happened in February 2016. A translator who was Cátia Cassiano's colleague of the Translation Course at the British Council showed interest in be a part of the Team. After discussion her entry was approved.

So today we are very proud to announce Mrs. Margarida Sousa,  the brand new member of the Updated Words family. Margarida is a professional translator who has more than 20 years experience in this industry. In her words she "prefers the technical areas" and that's why she specialises in administration and legal translation.

Most of the times she translates from Portuguese to English but she is also qualified to translate from English to Portuguese. She loves a good challenge and being involved in innovative projects.

Tradulínguas has just launched its Legal Translation Course - Contracts II for 2016. For those who had the opportunity of doing the first module of this Course, this is a great opportunity to consolidate the subjects studied in that Course and acquire some more interesting aspects of this very interesting field of the Legal Translation.

Tradulínguas Launches the 2nd Edition of its Legal Translation Course - Contracts 1

Tradulínguas has launched the 2nd Edition of its Legal Translation e-Learning Course. This time the course will focus on Contracts and the differences and similarities between them in the Portuguese and Anglo-Saxon systems.

In this course participants will have the opportunity of studying all different components of a Contract, vocabulary and "false friends" usually associated with this type of documents and more.
